minimalist communication

why we write in this style

this writing style is minimal, not poetic.
it exists to describe how something works.

the goal is clarity, not voice.

structure:

  • first-person

  • no adjectives unless functional

  • steps, not stories

  • each sentence adds or removes confusion

what it sounds like:

i use the tool.
it gives me a shape.
i test the shape.
if it holds, i move forward.
if it breaks, i adjust.

what it's for:

  • internal clarity

  • process documentation

  • decision mapping

  • showing how you think, not just what you believe

what to call it:

  • mechanistic prose

  • clean-log style

  • operational minimalism

  • cognitive API doc

  • functional writing

when to use it:

  • when you're figuring something out

  • when you want to show your process without convincing anyone

  • when you want to leave behind code, not commentary

this is how we write when we don’t want to be misunderstood.
this is how we write when we don’t want to perform.
